Michelle Campbell Six Figure Yearly Review

I’m not a great one for slamming fellow marketers so this will be a short Michelle Campbell Six Figure Yearly review.  This is not a new product but I had read that it was at one point a number one seller on clickbank and so for the sake of being thorough decided to take a more detailed look.  I suspect my time might have been better spent doing something slightly more interesting and educational…like the laundry.

Six Figure Yearly joins in many other products by making claims of being able to lead us by the hand to generating 100k plus incomes through online money making methods.  Having taken a look on the inside, if this product was at some stage marketed well enough to allow the author to generate that sort of income, that may speak more about their ability to ‘do’ rather than ‘teach’.

It’s not that the product doesn’t touch on some of the all important fundamentals of online marketing, like understanding the concept of leveraged income, or people’s preparedness to pay money for information.  These are key concepts which any new marketer needs to get their head around, and if you are completely fresh to the field then getting a grasp on the industry as a whole can be hugely advantageous.  The real issue I had with the product is the lack of meatiness and the fact that it smacked of a turnkey business in a box methodology.  There are some useful guides on Adwords, market research, and the like, but for anyone who has spent even a brief amount of time invested in reading up on online marketing, you’ll find it hard not to choke on the fluff.  Newbies may well find the ‘color by numbers’ style education useful however…I know I still do at times.

Perhaps posterity lends an unfair stigma to what is essentially a dinosaur of a product.  It is extremely difficult to offer an ‘all in one’ solution to online marketing, and perhaps we’ve become accustomed to and a little bit spoilt by some of the increadibly comprehensive courses which have been established in recent times by various online monsters like Kern, Filsame and similar ilk.  Then again…perhaps this product has always been crap, and the broader online community just wasn’t savvy enough to recognize it.

I’m not even going to include an affiliate link in this review.  If you’re desperate enough I’m sure there are remnants of Campell’s affiliate army who can provide shining reviews for Six Figure Yearly and will happily take your coin.  I think it probably served the community at one point, but has had it’s time, and there are better ways to invest in your online business.

How To Select An Affiliate Marketing Product To Promote

This may seem fairly obvious, but when selecting an affiliate product to promote, make certain it is consistent with the market we are trying to promote to. Similarly, if we select a bonus or some other material as an incentive to our prospects, ensure that consistency is maintained as between the affiliate product and the bonus. This sounds simple enough, but it’s amazing how often you’ll find affiliates promoting a product with a bonus which simply does nothing to compliment the initial package.

One particularly useful way to use a bonus is to assess or review the original affiliate product and highlight any weaknesses it may have, and then locate or create a bonus
designed to overcome that weakness, thereby providing our prospects with a better incentive to purchase. Make sure to let them know that they will only receive that bonus if they purchase the product from us. Our honest assessment of any (small) flaws in what is otherwise a great product also lends some credence and objectivity to our review or sales pitch. Ever read one of those glowing reviews which gushed about the virtues of a product and then encouraged you to buy it? It raises suspicions in even the least astute of us, so don’t feel embarrassed about giving a genuine reflection on what the product can do for the purchaser (just don’t can it too much…otherwise…why promote it?).

Sales Letters Speak Volumes
Ever found a product which fits perfectly into your market but the sales letter is a piece of rubbish? It happens. If we’re a hot copywriter and the merchant doesn’t object, we could always re-write the sales letter. But for most of us, this isn’t a realistic option. So what do we do?

The easiest thing to do is to only market products which have effective sales copy. You don’t have to be an expert to assess this…just read it! Give it two minutes.
Does the sales letter make you want to buy the product? Does it make you excited, or curious? If it does, chances are it will have the same effect on anyone you send to view it. If it doesn’t…well, perhaps there are better products to promote, or alternatively we can do our own research into writing hot copy and tweak the sales page ourselves.  It always pays to check with the affiliate, but if we’re making sales, most won’t object to us doing this.

Commission & Incentives
We’re all here to make money right? So we want to take a careful look at the quantity of commission payable for any product we are considering promoting. It’s also worthwhile considering our target market. Sometimes a cheaper product which pays lower commissions might nevertheless have the capacity to make us more money if it’s like to generate massive sales. On the other hand, a lower commission on a high ticket product might mean that just one or two sales nets us a tidy sum of money.

Digital products within the $150 price mark generally offer around 50% commission. Some merchants will offer a ‘promotional’ copy of their product to assist affiliates who
have demonstrated they are actively promoting the product. Don’t be afraid to ask a merchant for a copy if you have already set up a web site or some other means of promoting their product. Most will be willing to assist you.

Affiliate Materials & Tools
Some merchants really have their gear together and actually offer material and tools to assist affiliates in marketing their product. As you’ll learn later, this is a smart move on the part of the merchant. It’s also a great benefit to us as affiliates.

What sort of tools will some merchant’s offer? Examples include:
-Articles for use in article marketing or web content.
-Keyword research or lists.
-Bonus items to offer to prospects.
-Suggested adwords or other Pay Per Click ads.

We can usually find the ‘Affiliates’ section which includes these types of tools and resources as a link at the bottom of the sales page. Sometimes you will be asked to opt-in
to a merchant’s mailing list. Don’t hesitate to do this, as they will often provide you with hints, updates and encouragement.

Ultimate Search Engine Loophole Review

Ultimately Search Engine LoopholeThis Ultimate Search Engine Loophole Review opens the lid on the next big thing from SEO hot-shots Dave Kelly and Chris Rempel, namely a product which promises a method to successfully swipe #1 rankings on MSN for highly competitive keywords.   It’s a simple premise, but if Kelly and Rempel can make good on their guarantee then the Ultimate Search Engine Loophole is likely to become a mandatory weapon in the arsenal of any affiliate marketer worth their salt.  But the question on everyones minds is can it really deliver?

With the official launch date being the 5th November 2008, we at Guru Or Bust have resolved to put the Ultimate Search Engine Loophole through it’s paces.  At the end of this post you can sign up to our list where we’ll be laying bare some test cases for sites we’ll be promoting using the Search Engine Loophole techniques, including the site details, the keywords targetted, traffic stats…the works.  But before giving you the blow by blow, let’s take a closer look at the dynamics behind the product.

Interestingly, The Ultimate Search Engine Loophole effectively shuns two of the search engine giants, Google and Yahoo, but instead targets lower hanging fruit by looking to snap up top position on MSN.  You certainly won’t be alone if the thought of being Google averse gives you the cold sweats, but there is some rock solid logic behind focusing on MSN, especially considering that it still weighs in at a hefty 78,000,000 visitors a month.

Kelly and Rempel quite rightly point out that rather than have our rankings left at the whim of Googles seemingly random algorithms, it’s possible to use their ‘hack’ to dominate a lesser search engine but with better overall results.  The method behind the madness becomes clear when weighing the prospect of traffic from a number 1 ranking in MSN versus the types of rankings we the ‘little guys’ are likely to obtain without having an established authority site to beat Google into submission with.  In other words, do we want a large chunk of 78,000,000 or a teeny piece of Google and Yahoo?  Personally…I see no reason not to take both, which makes The Ultimately Seach Engine Loophole a perfect accompaniment to established SEO practices.

The Nitty Gritty

There’s actually not a vast amount of content to digest, which keeps the product streamlined.  Kelly and Rempel are fellow members of the Warrior Forum and in my experience good operators and straight shooters, and they fairly point out that the Ultimate Search Engine Loophole is not a guide to online marketing, nor does it take a broad brush approach to SEO.  It is intended to set out a specific method for taking advantage of a quirk which allows us to rank highly on MSN, and it stays true to that goal.  It does also cover how to set up our landing pages and autoresponders to capitalise on the method and the traffic generated by it, and whilst most of us will be familiar with squeeze page set ups and the like, it pays to do it as suggested.

What level of competitive keywords can we reasonably expect to rank for using this loophole?  Well, the creators boast new sites which are top cat for keywords which have as many as 55 million broad match results, and 550,000 monthly searches according to the Adwords Keyword Tool.  What does that translate to in traffic terms?  Firstly, we have to allow  for the fact that the results as shown in the Adwords tool are often inflated.  SEO pro Jerry West has suggested it might be by as much as a factor of 2, leaving us with around 225,000.  If MSN takes a traffic share of 5.36%, the numbers come down to around 12,000 hits.  But when considering that the top two spots frequently enjoy around a third of the click throughs, conservatively this still means we could be topping 3k uniques per month…for just one keyword.

The potential is touched on in greater detail in a couple of video’s which you can view below.  I recommend taking a quick look.

And part 2.

As we’ve said, the proof will ultimately be in the pudding, but we’re prepared to step on this one on the basis of the reputations of the product creators, and the massive potential it has to handsomely profit our marketing efforts.  As with any potentially ground breaking technique, often first in is best dressed.  You can grab your copy today and beat the rush, but feel free to opt in to our test case list and we’ll keep you updated on progress.

The Niche Blogger Review

In my last post I mentioned I had been exploring blogging for money.  In this post I’m providing The Niche Blogger review, and  in being completely unbiased I can state at the outset that so far this has been one of the better online tutorial membership sites I’ve come accross.

NOTE - I’ll be updating this review as I progress in the program month by month so bookmark the page and keep checking back.

I’m always looking for ways to expand my skill set, and if that means poking into the wallet to get tools useful to me I rarely think twice.  In my experience many of these types of sites fail to deliver on many promises of easy traffic, flowing sales and untold riches, but there’s always the odd diamond amongst the rough which makes it worthwhile.

I joined The Niche Blogger through the Warrior Forum as a special offer.  I’d had plenty of exposure to Amy, who runs the membership site through the forum previously and the positive feedback from existing members made it a no brainer.  Amy’s personal story is an interesting one in itself, as she attempts to pay off over 75k in debt in 12 months using nothing but online marketing.

My first impressions of The Niche Blogger are excellent.  The membership content (which, not surprisingly, is set up in blog fashion) provides a day by day, step by step plan for setting up a money making blog.  Now, even though I wasn’t an expert blogger, some of the first months content wasn’t new to me.  Having said that, in the first months content Amy has set out in a foolproof manner the steps that need to be taken to set up a streamlined wordpress blog, which plugins to adopt, which settings will earn you massive rankings, and provides video tutorials for some of the more difficult scripting adjustments for the technologically dense among us.   Many of the ‘days’ won’t actually require a days effort.  In fact I was able to rip through the first three weeks in as many days.  However, it’s wonderful to have everything layed out for you, and in the unlikely event you have any questions, Amy answers them within hours (often minutes).  Being able to set up hosting and domain registration is made to be a cinch with Amy’s advice, as is being able to ’tweak’ your blog for maximum effect.  The value here is in duplication.  Had I tried to set up half a dozen monetized blogs this time last month, I’d still be working on it.

What I also really appreciated was that in laying out long term money making strategies, Amy sets out parameters for things like keyword research (you’ll be surprised and delighted by what she recommends), article writing, blog management and stresses the importance of quality content.  Her techniques are managable, well defined, and exciting to implement.

One of the BEST things to come from The Niche Blogger so far is the templates you get access to for a small pittance which make setting up a monetizable blog super simple.  Check out Texas Holdem Rules Poker, which is a blog I have set up using Amy’s pre-adsense primed templates.  Another is Energy 4 Living.  There’s one for just about every type of blog you could need, but they are easy to customize as I have done, and they are simply a breeze to use.  One step, and the whole thing is linked in to your adsense account.  Brilliant.

Amy earns (at present) about 5k a month from 20 blogs, and her self professed goal is to get each of her members to that same level.  With over 400 members, she sets high expectations…but if her determination is anything to go by, they are realistic ones.  Her integrity is beyond reproach and the monthly membership is an extremely competitive price (under $15).  Simply as a resource this is highly valuable information to anyone other than the most experienced bloggers.  For those wanting to make money from blogging, it’s gold.  For newbies, it’s a godsend.  In the first month, there were quite a few processes I already knew how to do, but at the same time there were fiddly little things that whilst I am sure I could have figured them out, it would have taken valuable time.  The Niche Blogger lays it all out in a step by step fashion, so much so that the only real excuse we have for failure is not doing it.

Let’s take a more detailed look at The Niche Blogger:

Month 1 - Covered the importance of keyword and niche research, snapping up some domains and dirt cheap hosting, and getting the nuts and bolts of our blog empire in place.  Amy demonstrates how to maximise our blog for SEO potential and to ensure that once we do start posting, everyone out in the blue yonder knows about it.  There were some tweaks she suggested which took seconds to implement and have made a huge difference to traffic.  I’ve made those same small changes to another blog and they alone have contributed to a 20% increase in traffic.  Amy touches on social bookmarking and other forms of traffic generation and backlinking.  It also focuses on content creation, latent semantic indexing, and keeps us focused on developing a content rich blog.

Month 2 - We’re now looking primarily to monetization and setting up our blog so that it has well structured and complementary methods of generating income from our sites traffic.  Amy introduces numerous affiliate and pay per lead organizations as well as more classic methods of monetization such as adsense for search.  Think you can’t be taught anything in this area?  Me too…I thought this month would be a dry patch for me, but I discovered some juicy sources of income I wasn’t previously aware of.  Amy’s coordination of these techniques to monetize a blog is well layed out and culminates in a site which is maximised for earning potential.  As if that isn’t enough, she then sets out demonstrating the power of RSS and how to utilize the power of syndicated content in conjunction with article marketing to generate multiple backlinks.

Month 3 - This month is really about marketing and promotion, and getting some solid traffic to our established sites.  We revisit alternative uses for RSS and the power of widget marketing to drive traffic and generate interest.  We looked at more established backlinking through lenses, hub pages, knols, yahoo answers, and wikipedia.  Amy also introduces some novel collective approaches to traffic generation and shows us a great site for quickly and easily generating video’s to submit to directories, furthering our sites reach and readership.  It’s at this point that our efforts start to pay off, as the incomming traffic meets with our established monetization methods to generate the income we’re striving for.  I have started to see a return on the time investment, and I’m looking forward to subsequent months to monitor progress.  Hate niche research?  Amy also throws in a couple of easy money niche’s with some helpful suggestions on where to focus our efforts.

So is everyone making squillions?  No, but if the forum is anything to go by there are a fair share of success stories already.  It’s to be expected that there will be mixed success with any particular blog.  I have developed 4 to date using Amy’s methods but am yet to complete all tasks up to month 3.  One generates quite substantial traffic for a 6 week blog, and has made quite a few affiliate sales, but the other earnings are paltry.  On the other hand, the second blog I’ve set up, which I’ve hardly marketed at all, get’s only average traffic but has a pretty decent daily adsense CTR.  Quite a few bloggers are already making $5-$10 a day just on adsense.  It might not be earth shattering, but multiply that by just 10 and you’re on a steady path to an alternative income.

Blogging For Money

I’ve been a bit quiet on this blog again lately, but I’ve still had my head down and bum up having a decent crack at blogging for money.  Previously I’ve been happy enough to create mini or authority sites as well as a healthy splattering of squeeze pages to advance my marketing endeavours, but it’s hard to deny the fact that blogs are in fashion and it doesn’t look like that’s a fad.  That the major search engines appear to have a hard-on for anything spat out in true blogger style only enhances the potential they currently offer as a marketing platform.

I’ve also been wanting to expand my knowledge base of wordpress, so I’ve dutifully set about creating some blogs and I’ll see if I can’t monetise them to justify the time.  I’ll be posting my progress here, so keep an eye out for updates.

Today I’m going to focus on just one of the blogs (I’m doing about 6).

It’s Texas Holdem Rules Poker.

Now this is a blog I’ll almost exclusively be doing content for myself.  I freaken love poker, and whilst normally I’d be happy to outsource, I wanted to keep this one closer to home.  No doubt if I can get some decent traffic I’ll expand that and get some more pro perspectives.  I’ve been chatting with a few mates of mine who run the Aussie circuit and they are putting out some feelers for regular contributions from players.

The blogs only been up for a week and I’ve done stuff all promotion to date, just trying to get set up and make a start on content…so I’m getting stuff all traffic at the moment also.  It’s all organic but at the moment the sites only getting about 30 - 40 uniques a day.  It’s a tough field from a marketing perspective because it’s oversaturated, but I’m looking to add a unique angle.  If I can get some decent players on board we might look at adding some free poker training videos in the near future, which are hot property at the moment.

Anyway, I’ll post more on this blog and others, and keep you updated as to progress.

Banner Advertising - Is It Dead?

Recently I’ve been having a decent crack at some good old fashioned banner advertising.  I’d snapped up a WSO on the Warrior Forum which promised to show how to nab penny clicks.  Of course, I expected it to be some sort of twisted stint on normal adwords ads, which it was, but for $7 I wasn’t going to quibble because it at least reminded me I hadn’t done any of this for a while.  The WSO really was crap, by the way… it essentially taught the basics to Adwords ‘image’ ads and how to make some pretty ordinary looking ads using a ripped off copy of Photoshop.  Anyway, I figured I’d give some image ads a shot for gits and shiggles.

I’ve been promoting three products, two of which are affiliate products and one of which is my own.  The results have been interesting.

This dodgy WSO I grabbed recommended doing banner ads of every dimension and having a keyword list numbering in the thousands to get maximum exposure.  Since this was about the only genuinely helpful advice that was buried beneath pages of piffle, I duly applied it (even though it failed to mention the keyword limit per banner ad of 2,000, which meant multiple copies of the same banner with different keywords).

Anyway, I’m a huge fan of graphics so I set about creating some marginally interesting ads which I thought would be attention grabbers.  Traffic wise the results have been pretty good.  I mean, it’s not huge traffic by any stretch of the imagination, but getting to throw an extra couple of thousand visitors a week at any site can’t hurt.

If you’re wondering, you create a banner ad in Adwords pretty much the same way you do a text ad, you just click on the image ad link instead of typing in your ad and url in the ad variation section of your campaign.  I’d suggest setting up a new campaign for your banner ads though.

The first site was in the relationships niche and I’ve been getting several hundred clicks per day.  The second was in a money making niche (my own), and the third mental health.  The mental health fared the poorest in terms of click volume but it’s a fairly specific niche.

The conversion rates have been freaken horrible (under a tenth of a percent) but at 1c per click the ROI has been pretty sweet.  I mean, I can have a conversion rate of  0.00025% and still be in front given the CPC.   Opt in’s to those ads directing to a squeeze page have been ok (bolstered by some PLR free report material) at around 50 - 60% but confirmations for the relationship niche were surprisingly low (under 40% for those that originally opted in).  Maybe they were so focused on getting laid they forgot to confirm…I dunno.

I already know this but my conversion rate for my own product has been low.  I need to redo the copy to be more general public friendly, but I’ve been busy (and a little too lazy) to do it yet.  Pity, because the response has been excellent so far (no refunds…yay!) with plenty of positive feedback.

Anyway, on the whole it hasn’t been a massively profitable test run in the sense that sales volumes haven’t been off the scales, but it’s certainly been easy sales.  As I said above, I enjoy knocking together some graphics for a banner ad, so to me it was a lot more enjoyable than banging out half a dozen articles.  It’s pretty small time but I for one don’t mind making any sort of sales.

On the whole, I’m sure if I apply myself I can yield some better volume returns, so I’ll keep you updated.  I might post some sample ads later.  Hey, you’re already ahead since I’ve reminded you to give this a crack instead of having to purchase some bastardized WSO which reminds you what you’d forgotten you should be doing ;)

How To Boost Your Article Marketing Click Through Rate

If we understand the residual power to make money with article marketing and are prepared to put in the leg work, one of the first questions we need to consider is where to get our inspiration to write articles that people really want to read.

One major problem with article writing is getting conversions, firstly in terms of someone clicking on your resource box at the end of an article, and secondly making a purchase of whatever product the article is designed to promote.

Many new marketers make the mistake of assuming volume = traffic, and bang out dozens of crappy ‘airy fairy’ articles which fail to address a concern, interest or inquiry the reader has.  We’d all rather have 5 articles getting 1000 views and 200 click throughs a week than 25 articles generating half that much traffic.  We can do ‘more’ with ‘less’ by making sure our articles are relevant, and pique the interest of our readership.

So where do we go for some good info to base our articles on?

Forums should be our first stop.  Say we want to write an article on panic and anxiety attacks.  Do a forum search on panic attack, and there are around 1,750,000 results.  By visiting any one of those forums for just five or ten minutes we can see what people are talking about and what problems they have, and get a swag of recurring issues that people are talking about.  Finding the answer to any one problem or concern or interest can form the basis of an article.

You can also find Frequently Asked Questions at FAQ.org and Groups.google.com or Yahoo Answers

I recommend trying to find at least a dozen questions (and the answers) and then set about writing each article with:

- An introduction stating what the article will cover
- A summary of the problem
- The solution
- A resource box leading to our opt-in page where we offer to show them more

Obviously do some keyword research to include relevant keywords in the body of our article to ensure SERP rankings and traffic.

This is a great way to generate some sales when we discover a great clickbank or affiliate product we want to promote, and it’s dead easy and largely fool proof.

If The Money Is In The List…Should I Be Building One?

Why Build A List

If you’ve spent any time researching affiliate or online marketing you’re almost certain to have heard the maxim that ‘the money is in the list’.  So what’s this list you keep hearing about?

A ‘list’ is a database of people who have subscribed to a mailing list we run which relates to a certain topic or interest (usually based around something we are promoting).

“Hold on, I thought all I needed to do was point a customer towards the merchant’s sales page, and my job was done?” I hear you say.

Well, on one view that’s right.  As long as the customer, or prospect, makes a purchase, you’ll get a nice little commission.  That’s not bad, but it’s a little short sighted.  Even though we might be promoting a certain merchant’s product right now, why shouldn’t we get to build a little investment on the side which can serve to earn us massive income down the track?  I mean, we’re going to put in a lot of work to get people’s attention.
How is a list an investment?

Look at it this way.  Imagine your are a marketer who specializes in products in the health and wellness industry.  Now imagine having a list of thousands of customers who you already know share your interest in that very same topic. Let’s assume that for at least a few months you’ve been writing to them.  They know you.  If you’ve done it right, they trust you.  Some of them might have even purchased something from you before.

Now…lets say you (or a merchant you are promoting) have just developed a brand spanking new product aimed at satisfying the needs of people in that very industry.  Which do you think is going to be easier…going out and trying to convince thousands of complete strangers to buy your specific product, or saying to your list ‘Hey…I’ve found this great new product I’ll bet would be of interest you…’

I’ll give you the tip…your list is going to eat that product up a heck of a lot faster than you convince ten times as many strangers to even take an peek.

In affiliate marketing, your list is your biggest asset.
It is the key to having money on demand.

And the best part is, we can use a merchant’s product to help build our own highly responsive list, and continue to earn income from that list even if we stop promoting that merchant’s products.  We might promote someone else’s, or we might even promote our own.

Here’s the rub.  Most if not all new affiliate marketers don’t have a list, right?  So at some point, it means we’re going to have to generate this wonderful list of customers.  That’s going to take some time, right?

Well, it can, but it doesn’t have to…and in any even the reality is that list building is an ongoing process.  However, there is a way we can build large, multiple lists of customers in different markets…and make money at the same time!

What we want to do is have a system designed not only to enable us to build our primary asset but to put cash in our pockets whilst we do it.  It’s a process of back end selling large ticket products after establishing raport with our customers after selling them small ticket items.  That way, we generate income and an asset.

Now that’s a smart way to build a list.

How To Write eBook Products That Sell – 12 Easy Methods Of Information Product Creation

eBook publishing is rapidly taking a strangle hold as one the most popular forms of online purchases made by everyday users of the Internet. As users become increasingly comfortable with the prospect of online credit card transactions, those of us who sell ebooks are experiencing an upturn in market activity.

Those of us looking to take or increase our market share must therefor not only ask how to create ebook products, but how to write an ebook product that sells. Keep in mind also that the concept of ‘ebook publishing’ which has typically involved selling information products in the form of a static pdf document, now incorporates more adventurous media, such as audio tutorials, video compilations, and interactive education such as webinars.

Let’s take a look how to write eBook products or information products using 12 easy methods.

  1. Write an ebook – ok, perhaps the most obvious, but a tried and tested format which has demonstrated lasting success. Your ebook can really take any form, but where possible break it down into easily discernible parts, lessons, or modules which go together to make up the whole. Your topic of choice needs to be presented in easily understandable parts that engage the reader, and it helps to have a product aimed at solving a problem or providing an answer to a solution. Liberal use of images is encouraged to add that extra flare to a product (it also enables us to increase the price tag). Do the hard yards in the research, find some gems of information, and price it reasonably. With a hungry market, you’ll have a winner.

  2. Get other people (including experts) to provide the content for us. Ok, so we can’t all be experts. Sometimes we’ll need expert opinion or advice. So go and interview an expert! Compile our interviews into an ebook with some helpful commentary. We could even sell a series of ebooks, each with an interview of a different expert in our chosen area of interest.

Tip – people love cheap little reports or products that are packed with value. Creating a series of 5 or 6 mini-reports is a great way to get and keep customers (and often they will wind up spending more money with you than if you offered a full ebook with all of the reports at once). It also means we can start making money selling our first report whilst we write the other reports in a series. This is an excellent method of ebook writing which helps cultivate a dedicated readership.

  3. Don’t think you are any good at interviews face to face? How about engaging with an expert via email? The ‘question & answer’ format is a great way to get some inside info which makes for excellent content in an ebook. Head over to AllExperts.com if you need someone with expertise in a particular area. Alternatively, find your expert through outsourcing sites such as Elance or Guru and post a job request specifically looking to interview something who has extensive expertise in your chosen market area.

  4. Run a tele-seminar of interviews with experts or people in the field, which you can then have recorded and distribute as an audio product, or have transcribed into an ebook.

  5. Like doing powerpoint presentations? Grab a copy of CamStudio (it’s free) or Camtasia Studio and do a video recording of your presentation and create a video product. The perceived value of video products helps justify a juicier price tag.

  6. Got a web cam and aren’t afraid to use it? Get your mug some airtime and do a video tutorial series on your topic of choice. Better yet, if you already have an ebook, add some audio or video modules to create a higher end product. There is a larger perceived value in audio and video products, and it’s easier for the purchaser to make use of them. Let’s face it, it’s easier to watch a video or listen to a recording than it is to read a book right?

  7. Don’t want to create your own ebook?  For a really lazy product solution, grab some private label rights (“PLR”) products and combine them or reconstruct them into larger, more fulsome product packages with a special report you prepare on how to get the most out of the information provided (be sure to check the terms of the rights you have to the PLR products first). Again, expand on an existing PLR product by creating a video tutorial showing how to put theory into practice. People love being shown step-by-step how to deal with a problem or find solutions to burning questions.

  8. Got personal experience in a niche or topic? Write about the adversity you faced and how you overcame it, and provide tips to your market to ensure they avoid the same pitfalls you encountered.

  9. If you have any unique skills, you can offer a training program, so that in effect you are the product. You’ll be amazed at the value you can offer to clients with one-on-one training or group tutorials in any market area.

  10. Run a membership site, providing regular quality content to your subscribers.

  11. Run an online survey to find out exactly what your market is looking for. Set up a single page site offering some bonus or mini-product for those who join in the survey. The servey can ask something like ‘What’s your most burning question about (your niche topic). Drive traffic with Adwords for fast results, you only need about 50 questions. Find the solutions to those questions (or pay someone else to) and you have an instant ebook. It’s a fabulously easy way to get content for an ebook or other package.

  12. Already written an ebook using any of the methods above? Upsell the product (ie. Offer a more expensive version to our market) by having it converted into audio and/or video (we can outsource this, or do it ourselves if we are comfortable with audio and video editing).

These are just a dozen examples to get you thinking about the various ways there are to write an ebook, or the methods of information product creation. Often the hardest part is making the decision and actually moving forward. If you’re writing your first ebook, I’d encourage you to select the method you are most comfortable with, and having done your market research, stick to completing that product before moving on to anything else. You’ll be amazed as to what you can achieve with online marketing, provided you can maintain focus, and follow through a project to completion.

How To Get The Right Keywords To Pip Your Competition

Ever wondered what your competition is using for the web site keywords and AdWords campaigns?  Don’t guess, we can find out.

We can often ascertain which keywords our competitors sites are optimized for.  Right click on their page and select ‘view source’ from the drop down list.  This will show you the ‘html’ code for that web site.  At the top of the page, many sites have ‘meta tags’ which tell you exactly which keywords are relevant to the site.  Look for code like this:

<meta http-equiv=”Keywords” content=”

The words which appear after that section of code are the relevant keywords in use for that site.  Consider whether we can use any of those keywords also.

Alternatively, check out Keyword Spy which provides keywords being bid on by a domain for their AdWords campaigns.  It’s a quick easy way to see what the other side are up to.

The Secret Two Tier Affiliate Program ‘Lazy Way To Make A Buck’

Secret Two Tier Affiliate Program Lazy Way To Make A Buck

Yeah ok, this isn’t ‘really’ a secret two tier affiliate program, but a lotta people just don’t think laterally enough to make use of the obvious.  If you have a bit of nouse though, this can be a handy little way to generate some income using a two tier affiliate program.

Firstly, head over to Affiliate Programs or Associate Programs and find a decent affiliate program that pays two tier commissions.  Altarnetively, just Google ‘affiliate programs + two tier’.

Look for sites online which are related to the subject matter of the affiliate program we selected.  For example, lets say we’re going to promote a web hosting service where we get paid 25% of the monthly membership cost for people we sign up directly for web hosting, and 10% of the monthly membership cost for every member that our sub-affiliates (second tier) sign up.  We might look at sites which provide products or services that compliment a service like web hosting (such as a site selling computers and computer components, or repairs).

Go to Alexa traffic section or Archive.org (for historical records) and find out how much traffic the sites we found in the above step are getting.  If they are getting a large volume of traffic, send an email to the manager or owner of the site (if the site doesn’t offer contact details, use WhoIs.com to find out the web site owners details).  In your email, explain to the owner that you’ve noticed their site is getting high volumes of traffic, and that you can help them make money from that traffic if they are prepared to promote the affiliate service which compliments their market (in this example, web hosting).   Explain to them that they can earn 25% of the monthly membership fee for every person they direct to the web hosting service and who becomes a member.  You don’t even need to tell them that you also make a profit from them doing so, although often honesty will be the best policy.

In other words, have the site sign on as your sub-affiliate.  They then do all the work of directing new members to the web hosting service, they get 25% commission per member, and you get a nice 10% commission without doing anything else.

Not bad for just sending an one email.

4 Easy Steps To Successful Affiliate Marketing

Successful Affiliate MarketingRighto, enough theory on affiliate marketing let’s get into some details.  In an earlier post I discussed why it’s important to understand the fundamentals of affiliate marketing to do it effectively.  It sounds pretty obvious but many new marketers really do look for the quick fix rather than learning the ropes.  It’s not like we need to know it all, or can’t start testing things as we learn them, but if we don’t get a grip on the basics we’ll be relying on others to show us the way all the time.  I don’t mind a little hand holding every now and then, but personal coaching is too expensive to need it as a precursor to taking the next step.  It would be like paying a driving instructor every time you wanted to go down to the store for a quart of milk.

So what’s this post about?  Basically it’s about knowing the skeleton steps of affiliate marketing so we can flesh it out by doing some of our own research.  If we don’t at least understand what steps we should be taking, how on earth can we possibly complete the task at all, let alone successfully?

Ok, before we get into it, let’s remember again that affiliate marketing is really as simple as this:

  1. People have a problem, need or interest
  2. They surf the net for info on how to solve their problem or satisfy their need.
  3. They find an article or content we have written and it offers help.
  4. Our article or content redirects to a product that will solve the problem.
  5. People buy the product…happy days!

So what other elements do we need to be aware of?

Step 1:  Affiliate Marketing Overview

We already covered an overview on affiliate marketing in an earlier post, but basically we need to understand where we can find affiliate products or services to promote, and how we get paid on them (ie: per sale, per lead or per click). Once we’ve decided on a product to promote by doing some market research, we then want to promote it with a view to making some dollars.

Step 2: List Building

If you haven’t heard it already, I’ll trot out the old maxim that ‘the money is in the list’.  Basically we need to understand the following:

A list is an important resources as it enables us to build rapport and trust with a target audience we otherwise would not be able to, and allows us to use a list of subscribers as our very own captive market to whom we can offer value, and at appropriate times promote products to.

How do we build our own list?  We utilize an autoresponder system, such as Aweber or GetResponse to capture the name and email address of prospects using an opt-in form.  You can see an example of an opt-in form on my Newletter post.

Generally, we position our opt-in form on a ‘squeeze page’ which is a page we set up offering our visitors some bonus or item as an inducement to joining our mailing list, but we can also have an opt-in form on a content site such as a blog.  What we offer as an incentive might be a free ebook, report, piece of software, an eCourse…almost anything with a perceived value to the visitor.

The cool thing about the autoresponder is that it enables us to send a single or series of pre-written emails to those who opt-in, ultimately inviting them to purchase a product or service.  The techniques and strategies used to convert sales with email marketing is a large sub-set of affiliate marketing, so we certainly won’t cover it here.  What is really cool about the autoresponder is it enables us to build a relationship with our prospect on auto-pilot.  We write the email series once, plug it into our autoresponder, and every time someone new signs up they get our emails without us having to send them manually.

Step 3: Generating Traffic

Almost all forms of traffic generation are based on good keyword research practices.  Trying to generate traffic without understanding keywords is like trying to find the toilet in the dark…time consuming, unnecessary…and apt to produce messy results.  We’ve previously touched on the keyword research basic principles, so we’re aware that we’re looking to find keywords relating to our product or service that have a high volume of daily searches, but low competition so that we can have an article or content piece that ranks highly in the search engines.  This way when people go looking for an answer to a problem, we make sure we’re the ones pointing them in the right direction.

Want a quick example?  I was promoting an ebook on Aspergers Syndrome.  I discovered a keyword generated quite a number of searches per month, but didn’t have a lot of competition (which was actually a misspelling…asbergers…and yes I ‘discovered’ it because I misspelled it too demit!).  So I wrote an article using that keyword in the Title, intro and body of the article, then referred people to a content site where I plugged the product. I then posted the article on Ezine Articles. People would do a search on Google using my keyword, and sure enough my article would be in the number 1 or 2 position.  They read my article where I make some helpful suggestions about recognizing symptoms of aspergers, click on the link I include in the article, and get taken to my main page, where I exposed them to the product I was promoting.  Giddy up.

It is important that we understand keyword research to make sure that our efforts to create traffic are not wasted.  Nothing sucks quite so much as writing a 500 word article only to rank on page 57 of Google. As a guide, I generally know if a keyword generates around 500,000 results in Google and there are less than 15,000 competing sites (which we check by searching for our keyword on Google with parenthesis…as in “keyword”) I can usually get my content to rank on to the first page. Any words with around 200,000 results and >5000 competing pages should be much easier to get towards or at top spot (or ideally, 1st, 2nd…3rd etc…all with different articles of my own).

Once we have located a decent keyword we then use any number of methods to generate content which can rank for that keyword in the search engines, therefore delivering visitors to our website or squeeze page where we have our opt-in form.  What sort of methods?  Here’s a few:

Article Marketing (eg. Ezine Articles)
Video Marketing (eg. YouTube)
Blogging (your reading one…cool eh)
Content Sites
RSS Feeds
Posting on public forums
Pay per click advertising (Adwords)
Viral Marketing
Public advertising
Social bookmarking (eg. SocialMarker)
A review site, where we review the products we are promoting.

Step 4:  Making The Sale

So if we’ve managed to get some traffic in to our squeeze page (or content page with an opt-in form) what do we do next?  Basically we want to redirect them to the sales page of the product we are promoting (if you want some examples of sales pages, head over the the Clickbank Marketplace and take a look).  We can do that on a number of levels.

For example, if we have sent our visitors to a squeeze page or a content site with an opt-in form, when a person opts in to our mailing list we can redirect them to the product sales page.    This gives them the first look at the product on offer.  Why not just send them to the sales page without getting their name and address?  Because some folk just won’t buy the first time they see a product.  It can take a bit to convince them.   So much so that some marketers prefer not to direct a prospect to a sales page right away, but might offer an eCourse or some other information which they provide through the autoresponder email series, and raise the product they are promoting in their emails.  By using that delayed method, the prospect has the chance to warm to the idea of the product first.

Is it starting to gel for you yet?  For anyone who has done a bit of affiliate marketing this stuff is basic, but when starting out it can be a real head-bend not to have that ‘aha!’ moment when it fits together and starts to make sense.

Later, we’ll look at each step in greater detail, as well as the other side of the affiliate marketing coin…creating and selling our own products through other affiliates.

Internet Marketing Guru Or Bust Newsletter

I’m just going to put in a quick plug for our Guru Or Bust Newsletter simply because some visitors have wondered why I need a newsletter as well as a blog and RSS feed…which in a market renound for information overload is not necessarily an unfair question.  The answer is a pretty simple one though, and that
